I think my house has not been cleaned for twenty years. So, room by room, from ceilings to floors, I've been scrubbing.
But, when I took the globe off the bathroom ceiling fixture and went to work with Mr Clean, the white frosting on the inside washed off !! But, of course, not completely off as at least then it would have been salvageable.
And After:
You could also use Tide powder for cleaning or Mr Muscle all purpose cleaning agent for cleaning tough stains.

I agree with the second comment, maybe there is a way to salvage it with a little creative painting.

Is there any way you can buy a paint to refrost the interior of the light and maybe save it? Sorry to see trying to do something good, damaged your fixture.
